There is a new twist on the antipsychotic Seroquel CAFE study scandal. If you remember reading about the suicide of Dan Markingson, the University of Minnesota, Dr. Charles Schulz and the CAFE study then you will want to go to the Fear and Loathing BTX blog, authored by bioethicist Carl Elliott to catch up on the latest, most alarming piece of this dark and scandalous story.

There is also a new FaceBook page: "The Community Alliance for Ethics in Minnesota Psychiatry is resource for citizens interested in reforming psychiatric care and research."
Community Alliance for Ethics in Minnesota Psychiatry
From Carl Elliott:
..."But the “corrective action” recently issued by the Minnesota Board of Social Work against the CAFÉ study coordinator, Jean Kenney, has raised another disturbing question.  Kenney was not just the study coordinator for the CAFÉ study; she also worked on the CATIE study.  Kenney’s ethical violations in the CAFÉ study were extensive and alarming.  Did they occur in the CATIE study as well?"

The CATIE study was a NIMH study Clinical Antipsychotic Trials of Intervention Effectiveness (CATIE)

The implications of a social worker, not a nurse, not a physician being in charge of medications, data, charting, is of grave concern. Mary Weiss, Dan Markingson's mother deserves to know the truth and see justice done on behalf of her son, as well as every single other human being in these trials. When will the crimes against humanity via psychiatric "care" entrenched in pharmaceutical funding and dark corner deals be stopped? How many people will suffer, have suffered?
